Fire safety is a core requirement for operating a licensed short-term accommodation (STA) in Prince Edward County. It applies to owners seeking a new STA licence, renewing an existing licence, or maintaining compliance throughout the year. Fire safety is not optional, and it is not limited to the initial licensing stage.


Prince Edward County’s STA licensing program requires properties used for short-term rentals to meet applicable fire safety standards at all times. Inspections may be required as part of the licensing process or triggered later by renewals, complaints, or changes to how the property is used.
