Hospital Auxiliary Crafters and OPP Partner to Keep County Children Warm
Date: October 13, 2023
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Craft Group is once again helping local families prepare for winter by contributing handmade hats and mittens to the Keep Kids Warm program.

This week, the volunteer craft group donated 150 knitted hats and mittens to the Prince Edward County OPP detachment, which coordinates the initiative alongside several community partners, including Belleville Police Service, Central Hastings OPP, the Royal Canadian Legion Marmora Branch #237, and the Township of Stirling–Rawdon.
The Keep Kids Warm campaign supports families in need by providing new winter outerwear for children from newborns up to 12 years old. The annual program relies on the generosity of volunteers and community organizations to ensure children stay warm during the colder months.
Registration for this year’s program has now closed, with pick-up scheduled from November 6 to November 8 at the Prince Edward County OPP detachment.
Organizers and partners expressed appreciation for the Auxiliary Craft Group’s continued dedication, noting that the handmade items bring both warmth and care to children across the County each winter.
