EV Charger Removed from King Street Parking Lot in Picton
September 19, 2023

The County has removed the electric vehicle (EV) charger located in the King Street parking lot in Picton, as the unit has reached the end of its service life and is no longer supported by the manufacturer.
While the charger has been taken out of service, the parking lot will remain open. However, the removal work may temporarily affect the availability of some parking spaces.
The municipality says new EV charging stations are planned for several locations across the County, including the Crystal Palace in Picton, the Bloomfield Main Street parking lot, and the Wellington and District Community Centre. These new chargers are expected to be operational before the end of 2023.
The upcoming installations will feature Level 2 chargers connected to the FLO charging network. The equipment is being funded through a grant from the Charged for Change Program, supported by Aviva Canada in partnership with Earth Day Canada. The program focuses on expanding Level 2 charging infrastructure in communities that are currently underserved.
In addition to the Level 2 installations, the County is also working to develop partnerships and secure funding to install multiple publicly accessible DC fast-charging (Level 3) stations in the future.
Municipal officials say the upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to improve electric vehicle infrastructure and support the growing number of EV users in Prince Edward County.
