Residents are invited to ring in the New Year with a community celebration as Prince Edward County hosts a Winter Family Fun Day and New Year’s Levee on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Prince Edward Community Centre, located at 375 Picton Main Street, and is open to families of all ages.

Organized by Mayor Steve Ferguson and County Council, the afternoon will feature a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, with attendees encouraged to dress for the weather. Highlights include free public skating, children’s activities, complimentary treats and hot beverages, and opportunities to explore community displays.

The celebration will begin with a welcome from Mayor Ferguson and council at 1 p.m., followed by mayoral remarks at 1:30 p.m. The remainder of the afternoon will be dedicated to family-friendly festivities and a light reception.

Planned activities include cookie decorating, colouring stations, a County Kids Read storytime area, museum exhibits, and a chance for children and adults to get an up-close look at a fire truck while learning about fire safety.

The municipality encourages residents to attend and take part in the annual tradition of welcoming the New Year together.
