The South Shore Joint Initiative has released a new backpack-friendly map highlighting Prince Edward County’s South Shore as a globally recognized Key Biodiversity Area. Spanning 26 square kilometers of land and 65 square kilometers of water, this undeveloped stretch of Lake Ontario is a critical sanctuary for rare birds, reptiles, and plants.

The guide outlines local conservation milestones, including the Monarch Point Conservation Reserve and the future South Shore Footpath. Free copies are currently available at the Picton TD Canada Trust branch and online at ssji.ca.
