Where to Celebrate New Year's Eve in PEC

Updated: Apr 9

A lit sparkler emitting bright, glowing sparks against a blurred brown background, creating a festive and celebratory atmosphere.

New Year's Eve in Prince Edward County isn't about packed clubs or overpriced cover charges. Good food, local drinks, and celebrating with people who actually want to be there.

Whether you're looking for fancy dinner vibes or something more casual, PEC has options that won't make you regret your life choices by 10pm.

>>The Fancy Dinner Experience

  1. Drake Devonshire (Wellington)

For New Year’s Eve 2025, Drake Devonshire is hosting an upscale Strolling Dinner + Party. Tickets are $115/person for a multi-course roaming dinner (starting at 7pm) with a Champagne welcome drink, followed by a late-night dance party with DJ Mike Don’t. (There is also a $30 “Party Only” option at 10pm for just dancing/snacks.)

Spacious restaurant with white and green chairs, wooden tables, large windows, and a bar. A person walks in the background. Bright, airy setting.

The Drake’s stylish lakeside dining room (seen above) provides a modern, festive backdrop. Dress code is smart/casual and reservations are mandatory and this event typically sells out. The hotel also offers room packages (from ~$599+tax) that include tickets, bubbles, and late checkout.

Pro tip: Request a window table for lake views when booking, and consider staying overnight so you don’t have to drive after midnight.

  1. The Royal Hotel (Picton)

As an alternative to Wellington venues, The Royal Hotel in Picton offers a classic “Golden Era” gala.

Brick building labeled "ROYAL," three stories tall with large windows. Trees and plants line the front, under a clear blue sky. Calm setting.

They feature two prix-fixe dinner options (a three-course for $90 or four-course for $120), each with optional wine pairings ($65) chosen by their sommelier. Each dinner reservation includes admission to a themed New Year’s Eve party (cocktail reception and dance) that follow.

Guests are encouraged to dress. The Royal’s site stresses that seats are limited, so book well in advance. This option is ideal if you want a lavish, full-evening celebration (dinner and a big countdown party) in Picton.

>>The Casual Celebration

  1. The Acoustic Grill (Picton)

In downtown Picton, The Acoustic Grill is a small “fine casual” pub known for its burgers, live acoustic music, and dozens of craft beers on tap. It opened in 2006 and has a cozy, music-room vibe (band posters on the walls, a small stage).

Rustic bar interior with wooden beams, empty chairs at the counter, chalkboard menu, and warm lighting. Cozy and inviting atmosphere.

It operates Monday–Saturday (noon start on weekdays) and does take reservations. On most weekends , they host live music or a DJ. Menu highlights include a Guinness-burger, honey-chili chicken sandwich, poutine, salads and local beers. It’s very laid-back – no dress code or cover charge, just solid pub food and friendly local service.

Pro tip: Arrive early to grab a good seat. They usually do a Champagne toast at midnight on NYE (as many pubs do).

  1. Midtown Brewing Company (Wellington)

Midtown Brewing in Wellington is the place for beer and pizza. It’s a working brewery with a taproom/restaurant open 7 days (11:30am–8:00pm; on Fri/Sat drinks and pizzas run until 9:00pm).

Outdoor seating at Midtown Brewing Co with people under red umbrellas. A bright day with a white fence, gray building, and "OPEN" sign.

No reservations are accepted here (walk-ins only). The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. You’ll find a rotating taplist of Midwest-style ales and lagers (seasonal “Winter Warmer” brews are common) alongside wood-fired pizzas and pub snacks. If you’re into craft beer and pizza, Midtown is a chill, low-key spot.

Pro tip: Try their winter seasonal beers, and if you do go, plan a safe ride home (they don’t take reservations, so be prepared for limited hours).

  1. Hartley’s Tavern (Picton)

Sign for "Hartleys Tavern" with tree logo, set against a nighttime scene. Background features a brick building and lit windows.

It’s a no-frills community tavern with classic comfort fare (burgers, fish & chips, pints, etc.). They serve dinner until about 9pm (last seating) and then close for the night – so if you go, plan an early dinner. Hartley’s usually asks for reservations on NYE (or encourages emailing takeout orders by 4pm), so call ahead if you want a spot.

The Stay-In Experience

Book a Cozy Rental.  Renting a cottage or farmhouse with friends/family is hugely popular. Book early, as good rentals go fast. Stock the fridge with local County goodies (cheeses, meats, cider, wine) from PEC markets or shops in the days leading up to NYE.

Order Takeout.  Many County restaurants offer special NYE takeout menus (check their websites or social media for “NYE Dinner at Home” offerings). Place your order at least a week in advance if possible.

Unique Options

Winery Countdown at Home.  PEC’s wineries make great party favors. Consider pre-buying a flight of sparkling or still wines from a few favorites. For example, open a different bottle each hour leading up to midnight (start with a light sparkling, end with a bold red). Label each hour with fun facts about the wine. This DIY tasting party supports local wineries and is a cozy way to celebrate. Just be sure to drink responsibly (and water between pours).

NYE @ The CAPE (Picton).  For a larger, ticketed party option, The CAPE (an event space at 347 Main St. Picton) is hosting a NYE gala (9 PM–2 AM) for 2025. Tickets (~$40) include a welcome cocktail and midnight party favors, with music by KOJAK and three open bars. Late-night snacks are available if you get peckish. Dress can be festive or casual, this is more of a nightclub vibe compared to County taverns. (Tickets are limited, so this sells out.

Above all, make it meaningful. Support local businesses, stay safe, and welcome 2026 feeling grateful for where you are. Here’s to good friends, good food, and more PEC adventures in the year ahead! 🥂
