Winter Date Ideas in PEC (Cute, Cozy, & Creative)

Updated: Apr 9

A man and woman share a laugh over cocktails in a dimly lit bar, with other patrons in the background. She wears green; he wears gray.

Winter in PEC strips away all the noise , the crowds, the rush, the excuses and leaves you with what actually matters: the person you’re spending time with. The best winter dates aren’t the flashy ones; they’re the ones where you try something new, laugh when things don’t go perfectly, and end up with a story you’ll tell later.

So grab your warmest coat, embrace the off-season magic, and let’s map out your next winter date.

  1. Huff Estates Winery & Inn

A wide-angle landscape view of a modern winery building with a flat roof and large glass windows. In the foreground are long, neat rows of a vineyard, and in the background, several flags fly near a field under a clear, pale sky.

Huff Estates (Bloomfield) is open year-round, with winter hours running 11 am–5 pm daily. Their tasting room offers VQA wine flights (3-wine tasting for $12) and optional premium tastings ($25+) plus cellar tours (up to $50). The on-site restaurant and art gallery overlook the vineyard, making this a warm and elegant winter date spot.

If you want to turn the date into an overnight escape, The Inn at Huff Estates offers luxury suites with wood-burning fireplaces and seating areas. Winter rates (Nov–Apr) sit around $229-$289/night, and every stay includes a complimentary tasting. But you don’t need to book a stay to drop in tastings are first-come, first-served during open hours.

Tip: Midweek or early weekend afternoons are ideal, especially if you want that peaceful fireside vibe.

  1. Sugarbush Vineyards (Snowshoeing)

A close-up, ground-level shot of people ice skating on a bright, sunlit outdoor rink. The focus is on a pair of white figure skates with fuzzy trim and a pair of dark hockey-style skates gliding across the scratched surface of the ice.

Looking for something active but still romantic? Sugarbush Vineyards (Bloomfield) maintains a gentle ~2 km snowshoe trail through the vines. Rentals run about $20 per person, often including a tasting or hot chocolate. Trails are suitable for beginners, and winter hours typically run 11–5 daily.

Warm up in the cozy tasting bar afterward, it's the perfect reward.

Tip: Always call ahead to confirm snow conditions. Weekday midday slots offer the quietest trails.

  1. Ice Skating (Parsons & Nearby Rinks)

Three people dressed in colorful winter jackets (lime green, purple, and orange) are snowshoeing across a bright, snow-covered field. The sun is shining brightly behind a line of bare winter trees, creating a lens flare effect.

Every winter, Parsons Brewing Co. (Picton) builds an outdoor rink on their lawn. It’s usually open Fri–Sun, weather permitting, and is designated as family skate (no hockey). On skating days, they fire up the bonfires, pull out the board games, and open the outdoor snack kitchen. Admission is free, and you only pay for skate rentals or whatever food/drinks you pick up.

💡Tips: Check Parsons’ social media or call ahead for current rink hours. Afternoons and early evenings (when the rink is lit) are most atmospheric. Warm drinks and comfort food at Parsons complete the experience.

  1. County Creative Pottery Studio

A high-angle, close-up shot of two people's clay-covered hands working together on a pottery wheel. They are actively shaping a light brown clay bowl as the wheel spins, with a bucket of slurry visible to the side.

If you want something hands-on and adorable, head to County Creative (Picton) - a paint-your-own-pottery studio where you choose a pre-fired ceramic piece and personalize it with glazes. They offer everything from mugs (~$25-45) to bowls (~$22-38) and plates (~$28-60). Painting time is included, and the studio fires your piece in 5–7 days (or next-day pickup for $6).

💡Tips: Arrive 1-2 hours before closing so you can actually finish your piece. Weekends get busy!

  1. Distillery Tastings (Kinsip & Wild Lot)

A group of four friends—two men and two women—standing together in a brightly lit, modern indoor setting. They are smiling and talking while holding glasses of white wine as if at a social gathering or wine tasting.

Prince Edward County has a growing distillery scene. Two notable spots:

Kinsip House of Fine Spirits (Bloomfield): Open daily, 11–5 (Nov-Mar). A tasting flight is $16 and includes three spirits plus a sample cocktail. While formal tours aren’t offered in winter, staff give great guided tastings, and the indoor bar is warm and inviting.

Wild Lot Farm Distillery (Picton): Located in a converted dairy barn, Wild Lot is open Fri to Mon (Fri–Sat 12–7; Sun-Mon 12-4). They charge $25 per Ontario vehicle, which covers your parking and access. Inside you’ll find craft cocktails, canned cocktails, spirit flights, and a small kitchen serving casual food.

So go make a night of it or a morning, or a stormy afternoon by the lake. Winter in PEC is short, cozy, and honestly pretty magical if you let it be. Bundle up, get out there, and make something memorable together.

Stay warm, stay romantic, and if you have a go-to winter date that never fails? Share it as the County always loves good ideas!
