Winter Trail Grooming Continues on Millennium Trail with Seasonal Restrictions in Place

With heavy snowfall across Prince Edward County this winter, grooming operations on the Millennium Trail are ongoing, creating improved conditions for a variety of seasonal outdoor activities.

The maintained trail is currently being used by walkers, cross-country skiers, fat-tire cyclists, snowshoers, and snowmobilers. However, access rules remain in effect during the winter months to ensure safety and protect trail conditions.

Motorized use is limited to snowmobiles, farm equipment, and vehicles related to agricultural operations. Other vehicles, including ATVs and dirt bikes, are not permitted until the snow has melted and trail conditions stabilize.

Snowmobilers are reminded to follow posted speed limits: 20 km/h within towns and villages, 10 km/h in designated wetlands, and up to 50 km/h in other areas.

Officials also caution that the trail is not specifically maintained for pedestrians in winter, and icy patches may be present. In addition, parking areas and entry points are not cleared of snow.

A section of the trail in Wellington from Cleminson Street to Wellington on the Lake remains closed to all users. The closure allows emergency services to use the route during ongoing construction work on Wellington Main Street related to water and sewer infrastructure upgrades.

Trail restrictions will remain in place until seasonal conditions improve.
