$50,000 in Damage After Shed Fire Spreads to Garage on Harbard Road
A structure fire on Harbard Road, just off Gardenville Road, caused an estimated $50,000 in damage after a shed was destroyed and flames spread to a nearby garage on Sunday afternoon.

Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue responded to the call at approximately 2:32 p.m. on January 21, dispatching crews from Carrying Place, Consecon, and Ameliasburgh. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved fire that had already consumed the shed and extended into the adjacent garage.
Fire officials confirmed the cause of the fire was accidental. Fire Chief Chad Brown stated that no injuries were reported, and crews were able to protect a nearby residential building, preventing further damage.
With colder weather settling in, Brown used the incident as a reminder for residents to practice safe disposal of fireplace ashes, ensuring they are placed outside in a non-combustible container and fully extinguished. He also encouraged residents to check that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly.
