Prince Edward County has announced the appointment of Adam Goheen as its new Director of Housing, effective January 1, 2024.

Goheen will succeed Charles Dowdall, who stepped down from the role after accepting a position with the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board earlier this fall.

Currently serving as the County’s Director of Operational Services, Goheen brings extensive experience in municipal operations, development, and negotiation. Chief Administrative Officer Marcia Wallace said his leadership skills and ability to deliver results make him well suited to guide housing initiatives aimed at expanding the supply of affordable housing in the community.

Since joining the County in July 2020, Goheen has overseen services including road maintenance, environmental sustainability, solid waste management, and winter operations. Prior to that, he held a similar role with the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands.

Goheen said he looks forward to building on the progress already made in addressing housing needs, noting that continued collaboration and momentum will be key to creating more housing opportunities for residents.

As Director of Housing, Goheen will act as the primary liaison with the Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation, which supports new affordable housing developments. He also brings community experience through his volunteer role on the Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward–Hastings board, where he has served since 2021.

Several housing projects are currently underway, including developments at the former Wellington Duke Dome site, Disraeli Street, and the former Queen Elizabeth School property.

Mayor Steve Ferguson praised Goheen’s ability to work across departments, while Phil St-Jean, chair of the Affordable Housing Corporation board, expressed optimism about future collaboration to deliver long-term housing solutions.
