100 People Who Care Select Hospice Prince Edward as Quarterly Charity
Date: May 16, 2023

Hospice Prince Edward has been chosen as the latest recipient of a generous community donation from 100 People Who Care Prince Edward County, highlighting the strong local support for compassionate end-of-life care.
At a recent presentation, representatives from 100 People Who Care formally awarded $8,300 to Hospice Prince Edward. The donation was accepted by Sandy Barnes, Executive Director, alongside Peter Matthewman, Past President of Hospice Prince Edward, with contributions presented by Richard Byers and Jim and Joanne Rose, members of the community group.
The nomination was submitted by Dr. Kim Haigh, who spoke passionately about the importance of hospice services and the impact they have on families during one of life’s most difficult moments.
This marks the second time Hospice Prince Edward has been selected as a beneficiary by the group, with the first donation made in 2021.
100 People Who Care Prince Edward County operates on a simple but powerful model: members gather four times a year, each committing $100 per meeting, and collectively vote on a local organization to receive the funds—creating a meaningful impact with every contribution.
For over 10 years, Hospice Prince Edward has provided palliative and end-of-life care to residents of Prince Edward County and surrounding communities, supporting more than 500 families.
Barnes expressed sincere appreciation for the donation, noting its immediate and practical impact. The donation will directly enhance the hospice residence, ensuring it continues to serve as a place of comfort, dignity, and care for years to come.
