A fire involving three buildings on Treasure Cove Road caused extensive damage Friday afternoon, with the cause still under investigation, according to Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue.

Orange flames dancing against a black background, creating a vivid and intense mood. No text present.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5, where crews arrived to find two structures already fully involved. Strong winds quickly pushed the flames to a third nearby building, intensifying the situation.

The fire originated at a residential home before spreading to two cottages. Fire suppression efforts were complicated by the property’s location on a private laneway, which limited access and made water supply operations and tanker shuttles more challenging.

Crews from Picton, Bloomfield, and Milford responded directly to the scene, while firefighters from Wellington, Demorestville, and Rossmore were placed on standby to cover additional calls across the County.

The blaze was brought under control shortly after 3 p.m. Officials estimate the total damage at approximately $3 million. No injuries were reported.
