Residents Invited to Help Shape Prince Edward County’s Long-Term Vision
Date: February 26, 2023
Prince Edward County is inviting residents, businesses, and community groups to take part in conversations that will help define the County’s future over the next decade as work begins on a new community-wide plan.

The initiative aims to create a 10-year vision that will guide decision-making, policy development, and investment priorities for current and future municipal councils. County officials say this is the first time a long-term community plan of this scope has been developed collaboratively with residents.
Due to a winter weather travel advisory, a previously scheduled town hall meeting has been rescheduled for safety reasons. The public meeting will now take place on Tuesday, March 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Highline Hall inside the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street).
County leaders emphasized the importance of accessibility and public participation, noting that the rescheduling ensures residents can attend without concerns about hazardous road conditions.
Public input will focus on five key areas that are expected to shape the County’s direction over the next 10 years.
In addition to the town hall, all households in The County will receive a mailed survey in the coming weeks. The survey can be returned free of charge and will also be available online through the County’s public consultation platform.
The municipality is also partnering with the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce and The County Foundation to host targeted focus groups for local organizations and businesses:
Community Organizations Focus Group: Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Wellington and District Community Centre
Business Focus Group: Wednesday, March 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Wellington and District Community Centre
A community plan summary report is expected to be presented to County Council by the end of March, forming the foundation for the 2023–2026 municipal strategic plan, which is scheduled for completion in May 2023.
