Overnight Snow Removal Underway Across The County Communities

Date: January 5, 2026

Blue tractor shovel moves snow in a winter landscape, surrounded by trees. The mood is cold and industrious.

The County snow-removal crews are working overnight this week to clear built-up snow along roadsides in Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington, helping improve road safety and visibility during the winter season.

The work is taking place during evening and early-morning hours to minimize daytime disruption. Crews begin operations at 7:00 p.m. each night and are expected to wrap up by approximately 5:00 a.m., continuing through Saturday.

What Residents Should Expect

Snow removal began on Picton Main Street and will continue through Bloomfield and Wellington as crews move between communities. While the work is necessary, residents may notice increased noise overnight as plows and heavy equipment operate along roadways.

To ensure crews can work efficiently, residents are asked to avoid parking on streets after 7:00 p.m. in affected areas. Vehicles left on the road may interfere with snow-clearing operations and could be towed at the owner’s expense, as the County maintains a zero-tolerance approach to winter parking violations.

Winter Parking Rules Still in Effect

The County reminds residents that overnight parking restrictions apply on all Prince Edward County roads until March 31, including municipal parking lots, unless otherwise posted. Designated overnight parking is available in limited locations, including: Mary Street Parking Lot (Picton) & 55 King Street Parking Lot (Picton):

These designated areas help accommodate residents while allowing snow-removal crews to keep roads clear and passable.

Staying Informed

Residents with questions about snow removal or parking restrictions can contact the County by phone or email for further information.

By working overnight and asking for public cooperation, The County aims to keep local roads safer and more accessible throughout the winter months.
