Members of the Rotary Club of Picton have delivered another significant contribution toward the construction of Prince Edward County’s new hospital, presenting a $17,930 donation as part of their $100,000 fundraising commitment.

With this latest installment, the club has now contributed $67,104 to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (PECMHF) Back the Build campaign.

Shannon Coull, executive director of PECMHF and a Rotary member herself, praised the club’s long-standing involvement in local health care initiatives.

“The Rotary Club of Picton has been a dedicated partner for more than two decades,” said Coull. “Over the years, Rotarians have contributed more than $182,000 to support vital medical equipment and now the development of our new hospital.”

Coull also acknowledged a milestone year for the club, congratulating Picton Rotary on 80 years of Service Above Self and recognizing the continued efforts of its volunteers to strengthen the community.

The funds were raised through a variety of community fundraising events, including a golf tournament, waterfalls tour, Lilac Ride, cash calendar sales, and other initiatives organized by club members.

Barb Proctor, president of the Rotary Club of Picton, said the donation reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community projects.

“We’re proud to support causes that make a lasting difference, especially the new County hospital,” said Proctor. “Our success is thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the strong support we receive from the community year after year.”

In recognition of the club’s generosity, the procedure room in the ambulatory clinic at the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be named in honour of the Rotary Club of Picton.

“As Prince Edward County continues to grow, the need for expanded hospital services grows with it,” Coull added. “We’re grateful for Rotary’s continued investment in the future of local health care.”
