Drivers travelling through Wellington and Picton should plan for temporary traffic disruptions next week as multiple infrastructure and maintenance projects take place.

Wellington Main Street

Motorists can expect lane restrictions and reduced traffic flow near 411 Wellington Main Street from Monday, May 15 through Friday, May 19. Work will be carried out daily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to allow for the installation of a new water service connection.

Following the completion of the connection, crews will continue with excavation along the property line. While the majority of the work will be contained to the site, minor traffic delays are possible. Traffic control measures will be in place to help maintain safety and manage vehicle movement. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the construction zone when possible.

Additional disruptions are expected at the intersection of Wellington Main Street and Belleville Road on Monday, May 15, as KG Reid completes an underground conduit repair on behalf of Bell Canada.

Picton Area Road Work

In Picton, motorists should anticipate intermittent lane closures and traffic delays on Picton Main Street, McFarland Drive, Hill Street, Spencer Street, and First Avenue from Monday, May 15 to Friday, May 19, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.

A contractor will be on site conducting monitoring well sampling, with most activity taking place along the road shoulders. However, single-lane closures and short delays may occur during the work.

In addition, Ferguson Street, between Picton Main Street and Ena Street, will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The closure is required to allow Hydro One to safely remove two trees using a crane. Local access will remain available throughout the closure.

Motorists are advised to use caution, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time when moving through affected areas.
