The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) is celebrating a major fundraising milestone after Tim Hortons’ 2023 Smile Cookie Campaign delivered its highest local total ever.

During the one-week campaign, held May 1–7, Tim Hortons locations in Picton and Wellington raised $14,434.67 in support of the Foundation, surpassing last year’s total by more than $1,400. The funds will directly support the Back the Build campaign for the County’s new hospital.

A Decade of Local Support

This year marked the 10th consecutive year that the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons restaurants dedicated proceeds from Smile Cookie sales to the PECMH Foundation. Over the past 21 years, Tim Hortons has contributed a remarkable $80,696 locally.

“This year’s Smile Cookie campaign was truly something special,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons. “The generosity of our customers, combined with the dedication of our staff and volunteers, helped create over 14,000 smiles while supporting a new hospital for our community.”

Community Impact That Lasts

According to Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation, the long-standing partnership with Tim Hortons continues to make a meaningful difference.

“Our relationship with our local Tim Hortons family is incredibly important,” Coull said. “Their ongoing commitment to healthcare is an investment in the well-being and future of Prince Edward County. Every cookie purchased helps strengthen healthcare delivery for generations to come.”

Nancy Parks, chair of the Back the Build campaign cabinet, echoed that sentiment, noting the campaign’s role in reaching the Foundation’s ambitious fundraising goal.

“Thank you to Paul Massey and to everyone who supported this initiative,” Parks said. “With a $27 million goal and more than $20.7 million already raised, contributions like this bring us closer to delivering a state-of-the-art hospital equipped with leading-edge medical technology.”

Building the Future of Healthcare

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is raising $27 million to support the construction of a new 96,000-square-foot hospital, projected to open in 2027. Funds raised will help purchase major medical equipment, integrate environmentally sustainable features, and implement smart healthcare technologies.

As another Smile Cookie campaign wraps up, one thing is clear: a simple cookie can help build a healthier future for Prince Edward County.
