Police have taken three individuals into custody following a report of a door-to-door driveway paving scam in Prince Edward County.

According to the Prince Edward County OPP, a resident contacted police on February 14 after being approached the previous day by someone offering unsolicited paving services. The individual allegedly pushed for the work to be completed immediately, raising concerns for the homeowner.

When the suspects returned to the area and learned that police had been notified, they fled the scene. Officers later located the vehicle on Highway 62, where three people were arrested. While no charges were laid, the individuals were released to a federal enforcement partner for further action.

OPP are reminding residents to exercise caution when dealing with unsolicited contractors, encouraging homeowners to research companies thoroughly and avoid on-the-spot hiring decisions, particularly when offers appear too good to be true.
