UPDATE: A partial burn ban remains in effect in Prince Edward County as of October 14, prompted by ongoing forecasted high wind conditions.

During a partial ban, residents are limited to small, contained fires only. Permitted burning includes fires in an approved container with a screened lid or a small campfire. All other forms of open-air burning are prohibited.

Propane-powered appliances, such as barbecues and outdoor fire tables, are not affected by the restriction and may continue to be used safely.

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that a valid burn permit is required for any open-air burning, even when a partial ban is in place.

The situation will continue to be monitored, and restrictions will be updated as conditions allow.
