Wellington Residents to See Water Pressure Increase as New Tower Comes Online
Customers connected to the Wellington drinking water system will begin noticing higher water pressure as the municipality connects a new water tower on Belleville Street to the distribution network.

The pressure increase began Monday, April 29, and will be phased in over approximately two weeks while the system is commissioned. Once complete, users can expect both stronger water pressure and improved flow rates at their taps.
The new tower, constructed at a higher elevation than the existing Oak Street water tower, was built to meet current and future demand and deliver provincially recommended pressure levels. The project cost approximately $9 million and was partially funded through area-specific development charges.
Final water pressure will vary depending on a property’s elevation, with buildings at lower elevations experiencing the highest pressure. During the commissioning period, temporary pressure fluctuations are expected.
Municipal crews will be on standby in case the pressure change leads to leaks or breaks in underground infrastructure. Property owners are also being advised to monitor private plumbing, as homeowners are responsible for internal systems. Anyone experiencing issues that cannot be controlled at the main shut-off valve can contact the municipality’s emergency line at 613-967-8777.
The Wellington bulk water filling station will be temporarily closed during the commissioning process. Registered users should instead access the Picton bulk water station on Macsteven Drive.
Once commissioning is complete, the Oak Street water tower will be taken offline, with its future use yet to be determined.
