Wellington Rotary’s Annual Fundraiser Delivers Big Support for Local Health Care

Date: December 23, 2025
A long-standing tradition of community giving continued this fall as the Rotary Club of Wellington raised nearly $7,000 in support of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, reinforcing its deep commitment to local health care.
The funds were generated through the club’s annual Dinner, Dance and Auction, held in October, which brought together residents, supporters, and volunteers for an evening of food, music, and friendly bidding, all in the name of giving back.
A Night That Gave Back
The fundraiser raised a total of $13,877 in net proceeds, with the proceeds split evenly between two vital community organizations. $6,938.65 was donated to the PECMH Foundation to support the construction of the new hospital, while the same amount was directed to the Wellington Storehouse Foodbank.
Attendees enjoyed a buffet prepared by Chef Michael Hoy, danced to live music by The Reasons, and took part in an auction featuring a variety of donated items.
A Partnership Built Over Years
For more than 14 years, the Rotary Club of Wellington has been one of the hospital foundation’s most consistent supporters. Through creative, grassroots fundraising efforts including maple syrup sales, bottle depot initiatives, and annual events, the club has contributed over $600,000 toward strengthening health care services in The County.
Past donations have helped fund essential medical equipment at the current hospital, ensuring patients continue to receive safe and high-quality care while plans for the new facility move forward.
A Lasting Legacy in the New Hospital
In recognition of Wellington Rotary’s sustained leadership and generosity, the waiting area of the future Emergency Department at the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be dedicated in honour of the club and its donors.
Hospital foundation representatives have praised the Rotary’s ongoing support, noting that contributions like these help bridge the gap between today’s health care needs and tomorrow’s facilities.
Building Toward the Future
The donation supports the Back the Build campaign, which aims to raise $30 million to help Quinte Health construct and equip the new hospital serving residents and visitors.
As Wellington Rotary continues its tradition of service, its impact is being felt not just in dollars raised, but in the lasting improvements to health care close to home.
