Winter Parking Rules Now in Effect Across Prince Edward County

Dec 1, 2023
1 min read

Winter parking regulations are officially in place across Prince Edward County as of December 1, bringing changes to both daytime and overnight parking through the winter months.

Free Parking in Picton

Parking in Picton is free from December 1 to March 31, 2024, including spaces along Picton Main Street and Market Lane. While payment is not required, motorists are encouraged to “Feed the Meter” during December in support of the Food for Learning program, with all meter donations going toward local student meals and snacks.

Overnight Parking Restrictions

From December 1 to March 31, overnight parking is prohibited county-wide on all streets and highways between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. This seasonal restriction allows snowplow and road maintenance crews to operate safely and efficiently.

The overnight ban also applies to municipal parking lots, with limited exceptions in designated winter parking areas:

  • Mary Street Parking Lot (Picton): Overnight parking is permitted in the first row on the left after entering the lot.

  • 55 King Street Parking Lot (Picton): Parking is allowed on the right side on odd-numbered days and the left side on even-numbered days.

Drivers are reminded to watch for posted signage and plan parking accordingly to avoid tickets or towing.
